I spent a few days this past week in Grand Junction, Colorado, visiting my cousin and her kids. When I left Iowa City, nothing was blooming here yet, but Grand Junction was a festival of blossoms and color. I found these little blue flowers—I’m not sure what they are, exactly—cuddling the rocks in her side yard.

This reminds me that I’ve been intending to plant more flowers. I’ve been concentrating so much on my herbs and tomatoes that I have neglected to get some lovely flowering things started. :)

Such an intense, brilliant blue. Absolutely lovely! I have blooms only on trees adn shrubs right now. need to get busy and put in some blossoming beds!

Gardenmomma, we’re getting close in Iowa City, although the weird weather we had definitely affected things.
Container Gardening Tips, this year we went ahead and planted some spring bulbs, and next we’re going to plant some flower seeds. We’ll see how it goes — I’m hoping we end up with some blooms this year.

I think that is a Lithodora – not sure which specific type…but Lithodora grows beautifully in temperate climates (we see a lot of it here in Oregon coast gardens) and does like to be moist. It’s a great ground creeper. I didn’t have much luck with it here in my Portland yard, but I think the spot wasn’t sunny enough. Gorgeous pic!!

Deb, this particular spot was definitely sunny — and with all the rocks, a perfect place for creeping, if you are a flower. Thanks for the tip on the possible variety!
